There is a clasp, but it glimmers smoothly; of course, there may be individual differences, but it didn't feel rough at all. ^^ The clasp also sparkles with the light, and even though there is a clasp, it doesn't look thin or sparse due to its tightly woven design. For a pendant with length around 45cm~50cm, I think it would look great paired with a necklace of about 40cm~42cm for layering.
